Summary
The story begins with a new English teacher Rahul Prakash Udyavar (Shahid Kapoor) joining Swaraswati Vidya Mandir school, situated in the Mumbai suburbs. He strikes instant rapport with students and teachers alike.
When Rahul Udyawar unifies the teachers (Ayesha Takia, Sushant Singh) against the atrocities of school management, the Principal Aditya Sahay (Nana Patekar) defends the management decision. This comes as a shocker to the teachers as Mr. Sahay is known for his dedication as an educator for the last 32 years which has built the school’s high reputation. The situation becomes graver as school management becomes overambitious with its growth and involves media planners in the extracurricular activities. This demands the involvement of students in TV reality shows and many other media PR activities used for building up the school image in public which starts reflecting on the students’ stress levels. The pressure on young minds increases incredibly, leading to unexpected and grim consequences.
Caught in the web of commercialization and internal rebellion, the school’s situation becomes so explosive that it finally becomes a national issue.

Summary
The music of Rann like Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar and Sarkar Raj is quite situational though one may not like to hear it in leisure. But yes they will have a potential to leave an impact on the minds while watching movie and one can surely buy this album. These composers have undoubtedly caught marvelously the theme of movie which is visible in music and lyrics.
The album opens with ‘Jana Gana Mana Rann’ ‘a controversial song because of its lyrics adapted from the National Anthem and a case been filed against it and supreme court has banned its screening in promos and movie. Sanjeev Kholi has sung this angry song and very aggressively has brought the anger and agony conveyed in lyrics.
The second in the list ‘Besharam’ has powerful instrumental version. Its hard-hitting lyrics and background score will surely enhance the angry mood of the movie. Abhishek Naiwal has sung the song skillfully as he weaves taunts in a vigorous tone.
‘Gali Gali Mein’ which follows next is definitely the ‘pick of the album’. The track seems like voicing common man’s anger against corrupt politicians and JoJo has totally done justice to song by giving it an electrifying vocals. Lyrics are harsh but true. The remix of the song titled ‘Gali mix’ is self-explanatory.
Here comes ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ sung by Kunal Ganjanwala who is popular for his romantic song excels in this dynamic song. The song starts with Kunal’s soft vocals but then powerfully accelerates his voice and marvelously sings this song that mocks the current political scenario of the country.
Next in the album is ‘Kaanch Ke Jaise’ is a sad soft song that gives a break from the angry songs and is beautifully sung by Sukhwinder Singh who is known for powerful song.
‘Sikkon Ki Bhook’ the next one has a different start as it takes off with news bytes to sync with movie theme and then erupts anger with Vardan Singh’s vocals. It has a dramatic touch to it and can only be heard while movie plays as it is not appealing to hear as an independent song. Soothing female vocals are a breather from the thumping angry vocals.
Last but not the least ‘Remote Ko Bahar Phenk De’ has news headlines initially so it is a purely original attempt; it is voiced by Jayesh Gandhi. It’s funny and not much interesting.
